We are a school focused on student learning and cultivating character. Visitors often comment that our school “feels like a family.” Our goal is to help our students to develop creativity, communication, collaboration, critical thinking and problem solving skills, skills required for academic and social success. In 2012 we were awarded the Premier’s Award for Safe Schools. This recognition is given to only 10 schools across the province. We teach our students about social responsibility and the HOAP process (honesty, ownership, apology and plan).
Eastdale is a Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6 school located in the growing community of Listowel, Ontario. We have approximately 330 students in the school, along with 26 dedicated and caring staff members. Our grade six students move on to North Perth Westfield Public School for grades seven and eight.
We have many loyal volunteers and an active School Council who help enrich the educational opportunities for our students. Our volunteers run a snack program, and help with reading programs and classroom activities. We partner with nearby Listowel District Secondary School. Students from the high school assist with reading programs for some of our primary students. This provides leadership and learning opportunities for the older students and reading and learning practice for the younger ones. We also have numerous community agencies working with the school to ensure a positive learning experience for all.
Our academic initiatives this year will be to continue to focus on achievement in numeracy and literacy. As a staff we will continue to develop our skills to provide our students with the best education possible while building character and citizenship skills.
